The Government of India, the National Internet Exchange of India and other stakeholders recognize the unprecedented growth of the Indian region in the digital space.
The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is a multi-stakeholder platform bringing together representatives of diverse groups, bringing all together as equals to discuss public policy issues related to the Internet.
The Government of India, the National Internet Exchange of India and other stakeholders recognize the unprecedented growth of the Indian region in the digital space. Therefore, it has decided to organize its own Internet Governance Forum this year.
Maintaining the true spirit of the global IGF, the IIGF 2021 adopts the multi-stakeholder concept in organizing the event. It will recognize every citizen as a stakeholder and allow everyone to participate in political dialogue and decision-making on an equal footing through an inclusive process. The curtain raiser will take place on October 21, followed by the IIGF event in November.
India is the second largest broadband subscription country in the world with a
enormous economic potential of the internet (800 million internet users and over 1.2 billion mobile users), making this initiative vital to ensuring that India’s internet growth is democratic, inclusive and accessible to all.
India has the most diverse internet-related stakeholders and issues, including cybersecurity, net neutrality, online rights, youth and digital innovation. With this in mind, the theme for this year’s conference is “Inclusive Internet”.
Whether you’re a creator, developer, maker, user, or just a curious mind, you’re an integral part of the conference. This is your chance to be heard, share your views and pioneer the introduction of an inclusive internet in India. Join the IIGF to discuss the future of India’s ecosystem and to explore how India is securing a digital future for a stable and secure cyberspace.
Everyone has a stake in the internet and this conference will bring all internet players together on one platform.
